The Michigan sports betting market set a handle record of $5.5 billion and revenue of $470 million, despite an inconsistent football season, in of hold percentage.
That proves that the online betting sector still brings in plenty of money for the 13 online sportsbooks and the state of Michigan.
Below, you’ll find the lifetime betting revenue totals for the state’s online sportsbooks and the Detroit retail casinos. Revenue from the retail sportsbooks at tribal casinos is not reported by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
January 2025 betting revenue highlights
Combining online and retail betting, sportsbooks in the state recorded $574.6 million in bets. Handle was down 6.9% from December and down 4.5% from January 2024.
Here’s a look at some of the key January 2025 numbers:
- The total gross betting revenue produced by online sites in January was $85.6 million, a new record, because of a 14.9% hold rate.
- Combining online and retail betting, sportsbooks made a collective tax payment of $4.3 million in January.
- FanDuel Sportsbook had the highest online handle in the month with $227.3 million in bets. DraftKings was second at $151.7 million.
