Customers at Hollywood Casino at Greektown experienced a delay in slots cashouts over the weekend, apparently caused by a bug in the casino management system. Some customers reported having to wait more than four hours to receive cash paid out by hand by casino employees, as the machines stopped being able to print vouchers.

Cyberattacks have caused slots outages at a number of casinos in recent memory, but that appears not to have been the case in this instance. The property told FOX 2 Detroit that the system failure was the result of a glitch.

PlayMichigan reached out to the property for more information on the nature of the bug, and whether it’s something to worry about moving forward. However, Hollywood Casino at Greektown did not respond for comment.

How customers dealt with delay

One customer waited more than two hours to get paid her winnings. After an hour of waiting, Kourtney Taylor said that an announcement was made over the loudspeaker regarding the glitch. Taylor explained what happened to FOX 2 Detroit:

I went to cash out my ticket and the whole machine locked. We looked around and everyone’s machine were locked.

After two hours, casino attendants started coming around and hand-paying customers cash winnings. Taylor described the payouts as unorganized at first, which became more efficient as time went on.

FOX 2 reported that everyone at the casino did get paid, despite having to wait as long as four hours. The machines were also reported to be up-and-running hours later once the glitch was fixed, with no issues.

Since Saturday, there have no other hang-ups at Hollywood Casino at Greektown.
