Michigan online casinos had another huge month in September, as state internet gaming operators reported $102.4 million in online casino revenue, according to numbers released Thursday by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
The sector continued its amazing and consistent run since launching Jan. 22. From March through August, each month had produced between $89.2 million and $97.2 million in revenue. The September revenue pushed Michigan into a group with New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the sector’s leaders, as the only states to produce more than $100 million of revenue in a single month.
September’s total was a 5.3% increase from August, when the state’s 14 internet gaming operators earned a then-record $97.2 million in revenue. The numbers include both Michigan online poker operators.
Casino and poker operators combined to pay $18.9 million in state taxes, another $5.2 million to the city of Detroit, along with $2.1 million to state tribal governments. Since its launch, Michigan internet gaming has raised $139.0 million in state tax revenue, with $38.5 million for Detroit and $15.2 million for tribal operators.
September also was the second full month since the July 22 launch of live dealer online casino games, which helped boost Michigan online casinos to a record month in August.
BetMGM Casino leads internet gaming operators again
Among the more consistent news in the Michigan revenue sector is the dominance of Michigan sports betting market share.
In September, BetMGM garnered $40.6 million in revenue, good for a 39.7% market share. The revenue haul for BetMGM broke its own monthly revenue record for the state.

Meanwhile, two sports betting giants are locked in a showdown for second place. Entering September, DraftKings Casino to earn the second-most revenue in the market in five of the first eight months.
For September, DraftKings earned $15.5 million in revenue (15.1% share) to take second, as FanDuel was third with $15.4 million, ing for a 15.0% share.
Golden Nugget Casino was fifth with $4.7 million in revenue (4.6% share).
